Skincare Routine

As we move into colder weather and away from constant humidity I find myself moisturizing more and moving away from my oil control products to ones that create a more dewy glow.

For the most part my skincare has the same amount of products in it, I just use lighter ones in the hotter months and more intensive ones when it’s colder.

As I have previously mentioned I start off by removing my makeup at night with my Clinique Take the Day Off Cleansing Balm (Click here to read my product spotlight!). This gets every stitch of makeup off so my skin can be reading for cleansing.

In the winter I like using a cream cleanser that’s just really gentle and leaves my face with a really clean feeling. My go-to is Fresh’s Soy Face Cleanser ($38.00). It’s got a subtle calming scent and can be used on all skin types.

Next I grab my toner. I’ve used quite a few of these, some help with acne, some are for brightening but overall I like ones that calm redness. I use Neutrogena’s Alcohol Free Toner ($7.99), it helped balance out my skin, honestly, when I haven’t used it I notice a more uneven skin tone and the texture of my skin is more haphazard (oily in some places, dry in others).

Before going to bed I grab a face oil or an intensive night cream and then I use my eye cream (which is actually just Eucerin’s Aquaphor healing ointment!). Aquaphor ($14.29) was suggested to me by one of my friend’s older sisters who does makeup freelance. She said it’s what all makeup artists tell their clients to get a really hydrated eye area, and I love it! I just keep a big tub next to my bed so I never forget.

My favorite night oil is Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Oil Concentrate ($46.00), I swear by this stuff when it gets colder and the air is super dry. It doesn’t give me any excess oil and brightens up my skin. Lastly, my night cream, which I’ve been using all throughout college and still use, it never fails to disappoint. Aveeno Positively Radiant Night Cream ($12.72), This cream makes my skin baby soft and actually helps control my oil.

I would love to hear any suggestions for great products to keep skin hydrated and glowing!

Tartan Obsession

Forever 21 Wrap Skirt $17.90 // Missguided Tartan Trousers ($20 Steal) // Forever 21 Tartan Dress $24.90 // Guess Plaid Coat $148.99

One trend I’ve really been waiting to embrace this fall is Tartan and Plaid… for everything. I’ve always seen it in the colder months but lately pieces have come out that I just need to add to my wardrobe.

The great thing about plaid is that it always goes in and out of style, so you can keep you pieces and they’ll come back into style, like how my mom kept this plaid mini skirt she loves in college and her early twenties, and now I’ve discovered it and can’t wait to bring it out this fall!

There are also some great plaid accessories like the always popular Tartan scarf and this really cute plaid makeup bag by Mark and Graham.

End of the Summer Blues

Last night when I was planning my outfit I noticed I had forgotten to wear my new Lilly Pulitzer capris since buying them from the August sale! These pants are so comfy and have a nice stretch to them, they also have a double button closure when makes them have a very smooth waist band.

I decided to pair them with just a slouchy white soft cotton tank for a more relaxed look as well as adding my black patent leather Tory Burch Sandals (click here for link).

As you can see I changed my bag around (the life of an indecisive person). I couldn’t decide if it was too much blue with my suede navy tote, but in the end I just stuck with it because I love the bag for work!

The capris are sold out on Lilly’s website because of the sale but I found a pair on Ebay here. My navy tote is Topshop – Click here. The tan and navy tote I purchased quite a while ago from Marshall’s – but click here for a similar one. And the slouchy white tank is from Banana Republic – Click here. My Rayban aviator sunglasses are available on their website – click here.

I also wore navy earrings to tie the whole blue theme in again 🙂
