Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Picks

Nordstrom sale

Hi All!

So I know the internet has been spammed with this sale lately, which is pretty annoying, it’s also a lot of the same stuff. But I wanted to share a few of my favorites that I hadn’t seen anyone mention just yet!

This is my first year with a Nordstrom card and I probably bought too much than I should have but I know this will have me set for fall and beyond. I’m moving in September so I really wanted home stuff from the sale and I got some cute buys for cheap!

pom pillow

Eloide Pom Pillow $25.90 per pillow

I ordered two of these pillows for my couch and they are so cute! I saw similar ones in a boutique here in Boston but they were $50 each. Side note, the picture makes them look purple blue but they are a dark gray, I was surprised at first but that is actually a much better fit for my living room and more neutral!

candles

Diptyque Scented Candle Set $55

These are my FAV candles, they really make the whole room smell amazing. I thought these minis would look cute all lined up on a shelf in my room? We will see when I move!

Glasses

Crescendo Chardonnay Glasses $22.90 set of four

I wanted some nice wine glasses because I have had really cheap ones since college and they have gotten cloudy and chipped. This is a great deal on a set for really well made glasses!

Chelsea28 Tweed Ruffle Dress $98, ASTR the Label Silk Romper $45, Trouve Lace up Sweatshirt $52

Here are some of the clothing items I got, I included just the ones that I hadn’t seen anyone rave about yet. Now that everything had arrived I can say that I love everything from the sale. Strangely, but in a good way, everything fits me, I followed the reviews and bought up or down a size when people commented that and I think that’s why it all suits me so well. I hope you all get the opportunity to at least pick up a few things from the sale!

Makeup Favorites

makeup0 bag

Recently I’ve been changing up my makeup routine and trying to find staples that are always a go to. I am typically pretty adventurous with trying makeup, and so that’s led me to a big collection of things I love but I don’t really have a go-to routine so much.

it cosmetics

Base: I’m really trying not to wear as much makeup to work anymore, I like things that I can throw on my face quickly and head out – The It Cosmetics CC Cream has become a favorite. It has SPF and is lightweight.

Concealer: I have a very blue under eye tone so I like to use two different concealers. I promise this takes no extra time! One is the Color Corrector concealer from Sephora. The other is the Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer. Those two together will have you looking fresh any day!

Heavy Duty Concealer: This is not an everyday thing, but if I wake up with a breakout I pull out the Dermablend Cover Creme. This stuff is life changing, seriously.powder

Powder: I love loose powder’s but lately I’ve been doing my makeup in the train so I like the Makeup Forever pressed powder. It works perfect for setting.

Bronzer: For Christmas I got the NARS Laguna Bronzer, I know this has been a favorite for a while but I had never tried it! Now that I have this is a must-have.nars eyeshadow.JPG

Shadow: I normally like to put a little bit of a shimmer shadow on and then use my bronzer to define my crease. The palette I love is the NARS Silk road. I literally use it everyday and always love the look.

Eyeliner: The liner I use now is the Rimmel Pencil Liner in black, I’ve been purchasing this off and on for years and I like how it looks less harsh than my liquid for everyday (Fav Liquid is Kat Von D Tattoo Liner).

Mascara: I use the combo of the L’oreal primer and then the L’oreal Voluminous Lashes in Carbon Black.

Final SealSetting Spray: Alright this is very important. I honestly recommend this product to everyone and you need it too if you’re working all day and want you’re makeup to stay on. It’s the Ben Nye Makeup Setting Spray. This has honestly changed my life.

I hope this gives you some inspiration to try any new products! Let me know what you think. 🙂

The office style guide: Interview Ready

So I feel like my blog has kind of gotten away from my original view for it; to provide everyday looks for a casual office setting. In an effort to try and get back to office-styling, I’m sharing some styling tips for an interview outfit!

The biggest piece of advice I get is to not wear purple or red to an interview, not sure why but those colors are shown to make people angry or unhappy. So stay away! I tend to lean towards a neutral palette with some great accessories as accents. I have been complemented on my necklace or shoes at an interview and I think that gives them a lasting memory of you in their mind.

As I’ve been shopping I’ve seen great pieces from J. Crew and Anne Taylor that would be stylish while still looking professional.

I love these shoes I actually was going to get them in the spring but the velvet is gorgeous! And they are a great way to add a touch of style to your interview outfit.

Velvet Tied-Up Heels

This would be great for an interview at a more edgy company where you can really show your personal style!

A-Line Skirt

banana-dress

A dress for me is always the easiest outfit for a interview. You can do a fabulous heel with it and look super classy. I love the bell sleeves on this one and the flattering silhouette.

Flutter Sleeve Dress

These are some statement accessories that will get you noticed but at the same time don’t look over the top with a professional outfit.

Druzy Drops // Star Tassel Necklace // Double Layer Chain Necklace

blouse

Just purchased this and I adore it! So flattering.

Silk Blouse

fringe-trim-blazer

THIS blazer! For me blazers are tough, I find they make me look way to boxy and don’t flatter my body type. This one reminds me of the classic Chanel tweed. It would also add flare to a plain skirt or pants bottom.

Fringe Trim Blazer

tie-neck-blouse

I just bought this recently and love it’s versatility. It’s very office appropriate and I love the bow.

Piped Tie Neck Blouse

cambel-trouser

These, while boring, are amazing pants. I love the stretchy fabric of J. Crew’s pants and these are the ultimate work pants.

Campbell Trouser

printed-pants

If you’re feeling a little adventurous, a printed trouser is a great addition to your work wear. These ones are so cute and I love the cropped style.

Floral Pants

I hope this has given you all some office style inspiration. No one needs to be wearing the boring old black suit-white shirt anymore! Now you’re ready to take on any interview!

Holiday Gift Ideas

Holiday Gifts

To be Honest, I pride myself on giving a good gift.  I started searching in September for something for my loved ones. Living in the city and having to buy on a strict budget, I want to save up while also finding something that the person really likes or wants.

This year I’m buying for my mom and dad, brother and boyfriend, here’s some great ideas for gifts for the loved ones in your life.

Bose Speaker

SoundLink Mini Bluetooth Speaker II ($180) :I got this last year and have used it to death, it’s great quality and gets so loud for how small it is. It’s also easy to take with you on trips.

j-crew-mens-scarf

J Crew Men’s Cashmere Scarf ($118) :My dad and brother are looking for a great warm scarf this year. I picked this one up at J crew and it is so soft and snuggly.

LL Bean slippers

Men or Women LL Bean Slippers ($70) : I personally have these slippers, so do most people I know. So if you know someone who doesn’t have them yet, you can’t loose giving these as a present. With LL bean’s lifetime guarantee, you’re basically getting them amazing slippers for the rest of their life!

Laura Mercier Set

Laura Mercier Coconut Almond Bath Collection ($75): You may think this is a lot for bath products but I’ve used these and they’re really luxurious. The body wash leaves your skin super soft and the scent lingers all day. Perfect for those spa lovers.

Wall Art

Beer Cap Wall Art ($35) : This one is a great one for a guy who you have no idea what to get…aka my brother. It’s great because it is  wall decor as well as a collectors item. I got this for him last year and it’s been a great way to see what cool beers he has tried.

I hope this gives you all some ideas for your gifts!

End of the Summer Blues

IMG_0778

Last night when I was planning my outfit I noticed I had forgotten to wear my new Lilly Pulitzer capris since buying them from the August sale! These pants are so comfy and have a nice stretch to them, they also have a double button closure when makes them have a very smooth waist band.

sandals

I decided to pair them with just a slouchy white soft cotton tank for a more relaxed look as well as adding my black patent leather Tory Burch Sandals (click here for link).

As you can see I changed my bag around (the life of an indecisive person). I couldn’t decide if it was too much blue with my suede navy tote, but in the end I just stuck with it because I love the bag for work!

The capris are sold out on Lilly’s website because of the sale but I found a pair on Ebay here. My navy tote is Topshop – Click here. The tan and navy tote I purchased quite a while ago from Marshall’s – but click here for a similar one. And the slouchy white tank is from Banana Republic – Click here. My Rayban aviator sunglasses are available on their website – click here.

I also wore navy earrings to tie the whole blue theme in again 🙂

I hope you all liked my blue themed looked!

All About Fringe

FRINGE, FRINGE, FRINGE!

BB DAKOTA Faux Suede Fringe Skirt // The Perfect April Jacket // Forever 21 Draped Fringe Layer Top //Windsor – Natural Pop and Fringe Dolman Sweater // Topshop – Floral Print Fringe Kimono

I normally don’t go for all the trends, some of them are just too over the top or really don’t fit my personal style but I’ve been seeing fringe everywhere this summer and in new fall clothing and I can’t resist! There are definitely some fringe looks that are a little crazy but some of them are just too cute to pass up. The skirt is probably my favorite, the one above is from Bloomingdales but Forever 21 carries one thats almost identical and way cheaper, so you can rock this trend on any budget! I’m loving the cowl neck fringe shirt, I have it in white and the sweater is a great cozy look to incorporate the trend as well. I also picked up a kimono just like this one and I’m obsessed.

Accesories

Sam Edelman Louie Bootie // Mini Leather Tassel Strand

Fringe is big in accessories too and in a more muted way making it easy to add into your style without going overboard. These Sam Edelman booties have been a bestseller for a few years now and I’m definitely planning on picking them up for fall. The fringe Baublebar necklace comes in lots of colors and I love that the tassels are leather!

Whether its around your neck or draped from your skirt, fringe is a chic, boho trend that needs to be added to every fall fashionista’s wardrobe!
